WHY USE THE STATIC STRAINERS THAT PREPQUIP SUPPLIES: STATIC STRAINERS

In the mining industry a lot of maintenance occurs to ensure efficiency and maximum up-time of the equipment and operation. In order to reduce recurring expenses on maintenance and contractor staff, static strainers have become an ideal equipment option. It is also known as in-line guard screens and it removes unwanted solids from water and/or slurry streams. PrepQuip offers static strainers which has the ability to remove unwanted oversize material in water or slurry streams, thereby preventing blockages and protecting equipment downstream. We supply static strainers in standard sizes or application specific sized units which can be manually or automatically operated as per the client’s request.

Our static strainer line size ranges from 80 to 500 mm (NB) with screen aperture sizes of 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm and the equipment is able to handle volume capacities from 41 up to 1590 m3/hour.

Advantages of Static Strainers

The screening surface inside the static strainer is manufactured from highly wear resistant wedge wire, moreover the screen profile tapers away from the incoming pulp which in turn reduces the chances of screen blinding. Most screening process equipment is sensitive to oversized material and debris which accidentally finds its way in the process stream. Downstream process equipment including nozzles will block if oversize material is fed into the system, which can lead to unplanned maintenance and downtime with subsequent loss in production and in turn revenue. The static strainer is designed with an automatic flushing mechanism. It contains a material-flushing outlet which directs the oversize material across the screen instead of through the screen. The flushing outlet has a dumping valve, which when opened, material collected inside the screen is flushed out. This automatic flushing process reduces downtime and production loses.

Another good reason to make use of our in-line guard screens. Auxiliaries that can be fitted to the in-line guard screen include:

  • Manual operation;
    • Manual valve
    • Diaphragm type pressure gauge
  • Automatic operation;
    • A pneumatic valve
    • Pressure transmitters which can be connected to the PLC or SCADA systems on the plant
